Q + A

What date should I RSVP by?

Kindly RSVP through The Knot as soon as you are able so that we can best accommodate all guests during the busy fall leaf peeping season. August 1, 2026 is the latest date that we will be able to accept RSVPs.

May I bring a plus one or my children?

We cannot wait to celebrate with you and your loved ones! If we have included a plus one or your children in our guest list, they will be included on your invitation and RSVP.

What is the dress code?

Cocktail Attire. Please wear something that you feel comfortable and confident in and consider layers for the outdoor ceremony if the forecast looks chilly. The ceremony will be on grass, so please plan footwear accordingly.

Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?

We love being outdoors in the mountains, so weather permitting, the ceremony will be held on the lawn of Appalachian View overlooking Grandfather Mountain. The reception will be indoors in fully enclosed venue space with heat/AC. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to a fully enclosed heated pavilion on the premises.

What is the weather typically like in the mountains in North Carolina in October?

Weather can be unpredictable especially in the mountains, so please plan to check the forecast in the weeks leading up to our special day! In past years, it has been a range of 60-70's and sunny to snowing!

May I take photos during the ceremony?

We look forward to soaking in the beauty of the mountains and being present in the moment with you all, so please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. Our wonderful photographer will be sure to capture the moment and we look forward to sharing those professional pictures with you! Please feel free to take pictures during cocktail hour and the reception! We would love to see the smiles you capture after the ceremony!

Will there be a shuttle to the venue or should I plan to drive myself?

To ensure everyone's safety, there will be a shuttle that will take guests to and from the venue and The Marriott Banner Elk and The Lodge at Banner Elk on the wedding day at set times. However, if you choose to drive yourself, ample parking is available at the venue and there will be an attendant to assist you in finding a spot.

Is the venue handicap accessible?

Yes, both the main building and pavilion are accessible by paved ramps. Should you need assistance, getting to your seat on the lawn if the grass poses challenges, please do not hesitate to ask an usher or family member for assistance.

And most importantly: Will Ranger be taking part in the celebration?

Absolutely! Ranger will be staying in one of the cabins on the premises and making his appearance at the welcome gathering Friday night as well as during the wedding ceremony, and he will be staying through the cocktail hour to socialize and be in all of your photos!

I can't find an answer to my question, who should I ask?

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Kathryn and/or Max! We would love to talk with you and answer any additional questions you may have!
